about this layout: #8

Today the Skies, Tomorrow the Stars has no connection to any song, reference to some great literary work. It was just the title that came to mind when I stared at this completed layout.

#8 is probably my most simple layout. For me, that's an accomplishment. Though no surprise considering how I felt about the image when I finally found it. I wanted to use it in a layout, though I didn't want to edit it but just a little. The beauty of the Starship Enterprise and the scene around it is the focal point. The simplicity perhaps compliments the image the most, making the feeling that overwhelms me --- and many other Star Trek fans --- by just looking at it.

Star Trek is the theme, the whole reason why I chose the layout. I have loved the idea of space exploration since I was a little girl. I remember dreaming of becoming an astronaut, staring out into the open skies and looking at all those beautiful stars. Star Trek soon become a fixture in my life, becoming a distraction to ease my mind away from the difficult teenage angst that overcame me when I was probably just fourteen years old. It stayed with me through the years, and I've seen the stories progress. I have many favourite characters throughout the books, shows, and movies. My all-time favourite is probably not even a humanoid at all... but a ship.

The USS Enterprise is a lady, a being to those who really enjoy Star Trek. She is as real as characters like Spock, Kirk, Data, Picard, Janeway, and all the others. Her silence is still profound, a soul encased to a living ship; the dull dreary voice given to her duality of the strong power she carries with her.

There is a saying that I tell others, and I am sure many other Star Trek fans agree... The Enterprise always gets her say. This is in reference to the multiple times NCC-1701 has been given to a new Starship, with a legacy behind her. She is destined for greatness, and will always achieve it even if one form is lost to another, continuously reincarnating her to a future meant only for the Stars. Though not always the most technically advanced starship in the fleet, or even inferior to an adveisary, this ship and her various crews have always left an impact... usually by kicking her enemies' arse.

So here is my eighth layout for my network. Beautiful, isn't it?
